Leadership and management concepts are essential in all organisations when a group of people gather for a

shared purpose, adopt common rules and procedures, plan, organise, and manage resources, and work together
to achieve organisational goals. Most businesses are based on western management ideas such as vision,
leadership, motivation, decision making, and planning, which have clear roots in Indian Vedanta such as the
Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most popular and important ancient Indian scriptures. Using
contextual analysis, this study attempts to investigate the leadership implications and vision guidance found in
this classic work, and to give relevant counsel to modern managers, independent of cultural orientation.
