Current Events (weekly)

Trenton Times newspapers
Time for Kids news magazine
Movies (such as “The Untouchables”)
News programs (20/20, CNN, etc.)
Political cartoons
Speakers
Field Trips
Mainstreamed Activities

Grading Policy: The students are graded on a strictly point value system
(points earned/total possible points). Their grades are
dependent upon several things:

1. Classwork
2. Homework
3. Tests and Quizzes
4. Projects
5. Extra Credit Work
6. Final

In addition, each day that an assignment is late, the grade will


go down a letter grade. After three days, it is no longer
acceptable and the student can elect to do extra credit work to

Homework: Homework is usually assigned every day with the exception of


weekends. Current Events is due almost every week as well
(the only exception being when tests are being given).

Tests/Quizzes: Before each test, we will spend at least one day in review and
The students will receive a review sheet as well. The review
sheet will count for points are due on the day of the test. In
addition, I will add a page of Extra Credit Work so that the
students will have the opportunity to earn additional points.
Projects: The students will have different opportunities to do research
(especially online) on a variety of subjects. There will be at
least one project per marking period. The first one will deal
with the Presidential Elections race.

Final: There is no midterm nor Final this year. There will be a Final
Project though. Details will come as we get closer to the end
