The topic that I chose based on Organizing the Business Enterprise is Informal Group.
The topic of Informal Group is under the Informal Organization, which is the social interaction that
happened to the employee everyday. The informal group means the group that has created and
decided to communicate among themselves. According to (Morgan. J. 2018) an informal group
does not follow a defined pattern, rules, or guidelines, and no official leader controls the group.
At any point, anyone can take over the role of leadership.

This paper is about the Informal Groups, which is the category that communicate with
each other in the organization. The person that we talked about work with might be the person
that we talked about the nonwork-related topic such as families, music, hobbies or many more.
This is how the informal group was created for the organization. For your information, informal
groups can give positive or negative impacts to the organization.

Informal groups are more effective as we can easily communicate with others
spontaneously. I personally love it, especially in a group because it helps me to communicate and
understand well. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social media plays a major role in informal
groups. It can be seen clearly when we have an online meeting on Google Meet, online discussion
through WhatsApp and many more. Technology advancements and social media create
opportunities to keep people safe, informed and connected (WHO, 2021). The main theme is the
informal group plays an important role especially in the organization, although it has its pros and
cons. This paper is going to focus on the impact of informal groups to the organization.

There are many impacts that we can learn from it either positive or negative impacts. The
positive impact if they work together to support the organization and the negative if they do
unrelated things to the organization. The informal group's major function is to bring social
happiness to its members, especially when they feel a sense of belonging. Aside from that, they
can freely and effectively interact with one another. (Wu, Liu, Zhao & Zuo, 2017) mentioned that
informal communication can reflect the team’s views and ideas more authentically, release work,
stress, and improve organizational personal relationships. The positive impact of the informal
group is when they work together to help each other out such that the managers can utilize it to
communicate messages fast and directly to their employees. Informal groups proponents say that
informal interactions within the organization are subtle ways to boost creativity, team spirit,
innovation, and support effective decision making. (Kelemba, Chepkilot, & Zakayo, 2017). That is
the evidence for the positive impacts of informal groups and at the same time contributes to the
organizations. Next, according to (Chukwuemeka & Onuoha, 2018) human behavior is
complicated, therefore developing a similar conduct among group members is difficult. Conflicts
will emerge from time to time, with negative consequences for the company. As we can see,
negative information such as rumors or gossip are more likely to spread among colleagues
compared to the positive information, this is also the result of over sharing. It also causes the
other to speak carelessly and sometimes incorrect information is given to the other, which can
have disastrous consequences.

In conclusion from this paper, I had discussed the importance of informal groups and the
impact of it to the organization. An informal group, as we all know, is established by shared
interests, proximity, and friendship. Informal grouping organizations are defined as social personal
connections among workers that emerge to meet their social wants and sentiments. (Carnabuci,
Emery, & Brinberg, 2018). The employees are able to express themselves better among the
common interests that they have and at the same time makes them over sharing about something
unnecessarily. I totally agree with my reflective paper because the informal group has positive
and negative impacts especially to the organization as I mentioned.
