“The pen is mightier than the sword.” Is a well-known saying attributed to Edward
Bulwer-Lytton that many people learn as children. This implies that ideas expressed in
writing have a much greater potential for impact than violent acts. Numerous people can be
influenced and inspired by words, and they can last forever. According to Ong and Hartley
(2012), writing is a form of human communication that uses a system of physically inscribed,
mechanically transferred, or digitally represented symbols to represent a language. Any
student, particularly from General Mariano Alvarez Technical High School, should become a
member of Writers’ Clubhouse as it will help student to open more career opportunities; it
will help them to relieve their stress and keep peace of mind, and it will improve students’
writing skills.

Students had to learn speaking and writing as separate skills when they were young
children. Contenders may say that to speak well is better than to write well. In many cultures
and throughout history, speech has been valued more highly than writing. Before the written
word existed, stories, culture, customs, technological advancements, and laws were
transmitted orally. Despite the fact that illiteracy is still a problem in the world today, those
who are illiterate are still perfectly capable of working and leading normal lives without the
need to write. When we speak, our words are only heard for a short while. Our written words
may endure for a number of decades or even centuries. In order to provide a record of events,
such as a business agreement or transaction, writing is typically used. We typically need to be
in the same location and time as the other person when we speak. Despite this limitation,
speaking has the benefit of providing the speaker with immediate feedback from the listener.
If the listener is bored or doesn’t understand something, the speaker can probably tell right
away and adjust what they are saying. When we write, someone else usually reads what we
have written at a different time and place. Indeed, many other people can read them at any
time, anywhere. And readers are free to read our words at their own pace—slow or fast. They
can read our writing again.

By becoming a member of Student Writers’Clubhouse, one will be taught on how to

write properly and develop their writing skills which is crucial on almost any career. An
excellent eriting abilities is an important asset to gain whatever field or industry you are in.
Particularly when you take into account that employees may spend a third of their time
reading and writing emails alone. (Duxbury & Lanctot, 2017). Writing is also one of the most
significant employee skill gaps, according to a Conference Board survey of 431 human
resources professionals (Battelle for Kids, n.d.) It does not matter what profession the
students will get in the future, eriting has been always essential in anyworkplace and will still
always be in the future.

Secondly, by becoming a member of Student Writers’Club, students not only get

academic advantages but also it will improve their mental health. Writing can be used as a
form of meditation, allowing people to take a moment to reflect on their mental health and
slow down. Writing as a form of meditation can ease anxiety and depressive symptoms. By
Joining Student Writers’ Club, students will be able to have a form of stress relief despite of
stressful workloads.

Thirdly, Student Writers’ Club will teach students on how to write properly by
teaching then proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In the professional world, Being
able to explain yourself on paper can be useful in negotiations and communications with
clients and prospects in addition to business associates. Poor writing causes
misunderstandings, which increase the time it takes to clarify things, which can hurt a
company’s reputation and result in lost business (Sexton, 2013). That’s why joining in
Student Writers’ is encouraged. Students will be taught proper grammar, punctuation, and
spelling that is necessary in today’s world.

Overall, students of General Mariano Alvarez Technical Highschool should become a

part of Student Writers’Club in order to expand their career opportunities in the future,
writing serves as their form of stress relief and and meditation, and improve their writing
abilities.
