Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and was the Director of SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He got Ph.D in Soil Science from the Ehime University, Japan in 2006. Later, he completed Post-Doctoral research from Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS), Guangxi, China. He has spearheaded the compilation of the popular Bangladesh’s “The 100 Agro Technologies Atlas” launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 4th February 2021. He has initiated several multi-country projects, introduced the SAARC Ph.D fellowship program, contributed immensely to strengthening agricultural R & D by organizing several regional programs that benefitted the people of South Asia. He has published several books of which he authored five, edited 13, and developed nine training manuals. He has more than 60 research articles published in national and international peer reviewed journals. He is a Syndicate member of BAU, BSMRAU, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and Khulna Agricultural University (KAU), and a Regent Board member of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU), Gopalganj. He has extensive experience in working with donor and development partners. His empiric leadership helped BARC to receive the state highest award i.e., Independence Award 2021.
Dr. Syed Samsuzzaman is working in
Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF), Dhaka as Senior Specialist. He was the Director (Agriculture), RDRS and a Senior Scientific Officer, OFRD, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). He worked as a Director of the Board of KGF, and Syndicate member of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc.Ag (Hons) and M.Sc.Ag from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), and Ph.D in Agronomy from the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB), Philippines in 1993. He also worked as a research fellow in IRRI, Philippines. He is one of the editors of “The 100 Agro Technologies Atlas” published by BARC and launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He supervised research work of 4 Ph.D and about 30 MS students. He has about 25 research papers published in peer reviewed journals. He mobilized and implemented many Government and donor funded agricultural projects in Bangladesh.
Dr. Jiban Krishna Biswas, Executive
Director, Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF), was the Director-General of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI). Dr. Biswas was a National Consultant for IRRI, Bangladesh. As an IRRI scholar, he obtained Ph.D. from Central Luzon States University, Philippines. He was a JSPS-Post-Doctoral Fellow for two years at Yamagata University, Japan. He has authored 70 scientific publications, 440 popular articles, and several books, mostly on rice. He was one of the editors of the book "Advances in Rice Research for Abiotic Stress Tolerance" published by Elsevier Publication. He was also the research supervisor of 13 MS and 7 Ph.D students, and Syndicate members of different universities. He was awarded a Gold Medal from the Bangladesh Academy of Agriculture (BAAG) for his outstanding contribution to rice research and development. His dynamic leadership helped BRRI to achieve the Krishibid Institution Medal and the Bangabandhu Gold Medal.
