EXAMPLE.

Factor the numerator and Identify the values of x that will make
denominator. the numerator equal to zero.

Identify the restrictions. Identify the zeroes of f(x).

Intercepts are x- and y-coordinates of the points
at which a graph crosses the x-axis or y-axis,
respectively.

x-intercept is the x-coordianate of the point

where the graph crosses the x-axis.

y-intercept is the y-coordianate of the point

where the graph crosses the y-axis.
NOTE:

Not all rational functions have both x and y

intercepts. If the rational function has no
real solution, then it does not have
intercepts.
The domain of a function is the set of all values
that the varaible x can take.

The range of the function is the set of all values

that f(x) or y will take.

The zeroes of the function are the values of x which

make the function zero.
Intercepts are x- and y-coordinates of the points
at which a graph crosses the x-axis or y-axis,
respectively.
x-intercept is the x-coordianate of the point
where the graph crosses the x-axis.

y-intercept is the y-coordianate of the point

where the graph crosses the y-axis.
An asymptote is a value
that you get closer and
closer to, but never quite
reach. In mathematics, an
asymptote is a horizontal,
vertical, or slanted line that
a graph approaches but
never touches.
Vertical asymptotes are restrictions on the x-
values of a reduced rational function. To find the
restrictions equate the denominator to 0 and
solve for x.
To find the horizontal aymptotes, let n be the degree
of the numerator and m be the degree of the
denonominator:
