Instructions: Read the full transcript of the undelivered Arrival Speech of Senator Benigno S.
Aquino, Jr. and answer the following questions. The speech can be accessed at

1. First Impressions

A. What are your first impressions about the undelivered speech?

-The undelivered speech was well expressed. It was especially conveyed or


articulated in a clear, evocative language. It was in fact, political but still
comprehensible for someone like me who only have a few knowledge with politics.
I’m amazed with how the speech was flawlessly articulated in a way that it evokes a
deep sense of patriotism.
B. What kind of document is it (letter, ad, newspaper, etc)

-It is a written transcript of Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr.’s undelivered speech.

B. Is there a specific date on the speech. If so, when is it? If there is none, are there
clues that might indicate when it was written?

-There was no specific date as to when the speech was written. But since, it was
stated that it was his undelivered speech upon his return from the United States of
America on Aug. 21, 1983, it can be concluded that it was written on or before that
date.

C. Is there an indicted location? Where is it?

-There was no indicated location in the document as to where he should be


delivering his speech or where he wrote the said speech but it was stated in the
source that he was shot dead center on the tarmac of the then Manila International
Airport.

D. Who authored the document? Why did you say so?

-It was never mentioned in the document as to who specifically wrote Senator
Aquino’s undelivered speech or if it was written by Senator Aquino’s writer but it
would be safe to assume that Senator Aquino himself wrote it since the content of
his undelivered speech spoke some of his own personal experiences.

E. To whom was the written document addressed? How did you know?
-The document addresses the people who were against him and did not believe him
because he spoke in a manner of justifying himself and his beliefs.

F. What is the purpose of the document? What made you think so?

-The purpose of Senator Aquino’s undelivered speech is to deliver a meaningful


message. It is clear that his intention was to communicate with the Filipino people.

III. Thinking Further

A. What is the point of view of the author? Is it objective? Why?

-Accoring to Julie Eshbaugh, in her article, an objective point of view involves no


emotions and thoughts of the passage. Otherwise, the speech of Senator Benigno
Aqiono Jr. includes his feelings and ideas. The point of view of the author is
therefore, not objective but rather subjective.

B. What is the relationship between the writer and the audience? Explain

-The relationship between the writer and the spectators is professional. It seems
that there is an unresolved matter between them.

“fake news” in the Maragtas story and the Code of Kalantiaw. How did the
researchers discover that they are hoaxes? Considering the Primary and secondary

1. What were the early impressions of Antonio Pigafetta on prehispanic Filipino?

The impressions of Pigafetta in the early prehispanic Filipinos was in early Filipinos if
you show you’re your kindness and politeness they will treat you us same. The Filipinos
are very familiar and friendly Peligafetta saw that they have a way to live and to survive
full of resources and brainy.

2. How Magellan and his men treated on their first arrival in the Philippine island?

Magellan spent more than a month in the area trading with local leaders and trying to
convert them to Christianity. He grew angry at onc chief who refused to cooperate.
However, and ordered an attack on his village. Wounded in the fighting, Magellan
bravely held his groud while the rest of his men escaped back to the ship but then
received more wounds and died on the beach.

3. How did Magellan win the trust of the natives?

Magellan was able to communicate with the native poeples because of his Malay
interpreter that could understand theur language. They traded gifts with Rajah Kolombu
of Limawasa who guided them to cebu on April 7. Very simple, he just said as his
preface that he had come to this land to spread the religion of Christianity and eventually
taking the trust of the native. Magellan’s relationship with the indigenous people of the
Philippines was a mixed interaction.
