1. This question paper contains three sections – A, B and C. Each part is compulsory.
2. Section - A has 6 short answer type questions of 2 marks each.
3. Section – B has 4 short answer type questions of 3 marks each.
4. Section - C has 4 long answer-type questions of 4 marks each.
5. There is an internal choice in some of the questions.
6. Q 14 is a case-based problem having 2 sub-parts of 2 marks each.

Section A
1. If sin B = 3 sin (2A + B), prove that 2 tan A + tan (A + B) = 0. (2)

OR

Prove that: sin 23° + sin 37° = cos 7°.


2. Find the third vertex of triangle whose centroid is origin and two vertices are (2, 4, 6) and (0, -2, -5).

3. If tan (A + B) = x and tan (A - B) = y, find the values of tan 2A and tan 2B. (2)
4. In how many arrangements of the word GOLDEN will the vowels never occur together? (2)
5. What is the probability that in a group of two people, both will have the same birthday, assuming that
there are 365 days in a year and no one has his/her birthday on 29th February? (2)

7. Show that the points (0, 7, 10), (-1, 6, 6) and (-4, 9, 6) are the vertices of a right angled isosceles
triangle. (3)
8. Differentiate the function by first principle: . (3)

9. Solve the given system of linear inequations graphically: 2x + 3y 35, y 3, x 2, x

11. Find the (i) lengths of major and minor axes, (ii) coordinate of the vertice, (iii) coordinate of the foci,
(iv) eccentricity, and (v) length of the latus rectum of ellipe: 16x2+ 25y2 = 400. (4)
12. Prove that: cos 40° cos 80° cos 160° = . (4)

13. Find the probability that when a hand of 7 cards is drawn from a well shuffled deck of 52 cards, it
contains (4)
i. all Kings

iii. at least 3 Kings
14. Basant has a pack of 52 playing cards. He is trying to find out the number of ways to choose the
different types of card combinations using the knowledge he acquired in the chapter Permutations and
Combinations. Here are some combinations he is trying to get. (4)

i. What is the number of ways of choosing 4 cards from a pack of 52 playing cards?
ii. In how many of these four cards are of the same suit?
