Feasibility Study, Risk Assessment and Vendor Pre-qualification report for Grid

Direct Solar Photovoltaic System at GCET Campus Building

Introduction Vendor Selection Criteria Risks Results: Financial

Overview Technical Feasibility -
- An initial site analysis was conducted on the three GCET campus
building rooftops. Only 1 out of 3 was deemed suitable for installing Shadow analysis
Solar PV systems due to having a relatively large amount of space,
minimal obstructions, and adequate amount of sunlight hours. - EPC cost 1.5 USD/Wp = Total of $173,880 with a payback period of
- The building chosen for designing the system during the time of the 13.9 years, an LCOE of 0.035 USD/kWh, and NPV of $171,321.51 and
dissertation report contains 2 electrical rooms with having a total of 6 an ROI of 98.5%
utility meters connected to the grid.

Sub-Array #1
No. of Modules 96
Sub-Array # Power 44,160 Watss
Inverter Huawei Sun2000-36KTL-M0
Rated AC Power 36,000 Watts
Modules in series 8
Modules in parallel 12
DC Inputs / MPPT 12 / 6
Power Ratio 22.67% Conclusion
Sub-Array #2
No. of Modules 156 - Grid-Direct Solar PV System on GCET campus building rooftop is most
Sub Array #2 Power 71,760 Watts definitely technically & commercially feasible, however due to the
uncertain rapid growth in technology and potential of feed-in tariffs
Modules in series 13 growing higher in future, as well as lifting the load restrictions
Modules in parallel 12 - Some limitations to consider are:
Inverter Huawei Sun2000-60KTL-M0 - Climatic – High temperatures and dusty environment
- Sizing – MEDC restrict systems to be sized under 50% of the load
Rated AC Power 60,000 Watts - Funding – GCET Procurement would need to secure the funds
DC Inputs / MPPT 8/4 - Recommendation to wait one year of full occupancy for monitoring
Power Ratio 19.6% building consumption behavior trends and hiring a consultant for a
full comprehensive study as well as monitoring of Solar PV contractor.
