ODE TO THE FIRE IN THE LIGHTING CEREMONY

There are five Scouts who will perform the ode to the fire carrying the torch, it is positioned in the four
directions of North, South, East and West. The fifth Scout or the one who will act as the God of fire and
light is stationed in the South East and also carries a torch.

Ceremony
Scout from the North: We! People from The North! We! Need fire to cook our Food (walking towards
the Bon pyre)
Scout from the South: We! People from The South! We! Need light to see our enemy (walking towards
the Bon pyre)
Scout from the East: We! People from The East! We! Need Fire to warm ourselves (walking towards the
Bon pyre)
Scout from the West: We! People from The West! We! Need light to see the path of Righteousness
(walking towards the Bon pyre)

God of Fire and Light: HAH! HAH! HAH! HAAHH! (Sound Loudly and will walk around the scouts
stationed around the Bon pyre) I am the God of Fire and Light I am here to help your needs. I will give
you Fire to cook for your Food, I’ll give you light to see your enemy, I will give Fire to Warm yourselves
and I’ll give you light to see the path of righteousness. HAH! HAH! HAH! HAAHH! (Lighting all the
Torch and all together lighting the bon pyre)
Five Scouts: at attention, one step Backward, Salute, about face then march off as exit execution. (While
all the Participants are singing the Campfire’s Burning)
