COVID-19 is a virus that almost three million people worldwide

have died from since it was first identified in December of 2019

(Worldometers, 2021). By March 2020, the Philippines had gone into

several versions of lockdown and had the second-highest daily case rate

in SouthEast Asia after Malaysia (Toole, 2021). According to the

Republic of Philippines Department of Health 2021 COVID-19 Tracker,

as of September 25, 2021, there are 165,00 active cases in the Philippines.

Currently, the Philippines has been one of the longest countries in

quarantine since March 2020 (Manila, 2021). Statistics show that amidst

the ongoing global crisis, the number of calls received by the National

Center for Mental Health (NCMH) hotlines had doubled compared to the

same time frame in the year 2020 which received a total of 11,017 calls -

over 3,000 of them were suicide-related. According to the Department of

Health (DOH), over 3,000 Filipinos were given services through mental

health hotlines during January to March of 2021, and statistics show that it

is not dwindling down (Gonzales, 2020). This is an indication on how

levels of mental health concerns are rising among Filipinos especially

during the Pandemic.

A study about the level of anxiety during COVID-19 among

Iranian people showed that over one-fifth of the population has

experienced severe anxiety and that the people who reside in the

provinces which have high infection rates show high anxiety
