FORESHADOWING TECHNIQUES USED IN

STRANGER THINGS
Omen
Dungeon Master Mike Wheeler introduced the RPG adversary in
almost the exact same way the Demogorgon makes its first
appearance in the series. He said: "Something is coming, something
hungry for blood. A shadow grows on the wall behind you,
swallowing you in darkness. It is almost here."

The Object
Dungeons & Dragons was a popular yet geeky pastime in the 80s
that endures to this day and provided the teenage cast of Stranger
Things plenty of inspiration for their supernatural adventures. The
board game also inadvertently spoiled Will Byers’ first altercation
with the gruesome Demogorgons in the show’s opening minutes.

Innocuous
Statement
“You alright Sinclair? First hangover feels like you’re gonna
split in two” Said by Jason Carver, an antagonist in Season 4,
during one of the first episodes. In the last episode, he died from
literally being split into two.

The Name Drop

In the first episode, Will Byers said, “The Demogorgon, it got
me.” Stating that the monster in the board game Dungeons &
Dragons, caught him and he lost. A few minutes into the
episode, the real Demogorgon got him, and took him into an
alternate dimension, The Upside Down. A dimension similar
to ours, but full of alien vines, humanoid predators, and bat-
like creatures.
