The teacher walks into the classroom and begin showing the class flashcards with different

persons, places, animals, or things words printed on it. She proceeds to asks the students to

read each flashcard. The students then begin to read each flashcard, so the teacher moves on

to asking them “What are the difference in each word?”. After some time of brainstorming

with the students the teacher then introduces the term ‘ Proper nouns’ to them and continues

her lesson.

Strategies:

 The teacher defines the term proper nouns with the use of the individual answers the
students gave. (A noun that names a special person, animal, place or thing is called a
proper noun.) The teacher displays flashcards with various proper nouns, students
read words aloud together.
 The teacher then proceeds with the game ‘Guess what is in the Mystery Bag’ where
they each get a chance to pull a word out of the bag and read it out loud. The bag
contains both common and proper nouns.
 The teacher puts students into groups, and she give the group a common noun and a
proper noun. They collaboratively observe both words.
 The teacher draws two columns on the board one heading Proper nouns the other
Common nouns. One student from the respective groups places the common noun in
the column that says Common noun and the other place the proper noun in the proper
