BACKGROUND
Dr. Ebson Makuvise is the founder of Winds Corporate Services P/L trading as Zimbabwe
Beverage Merchandising Company (ZBMC) and Impactful Marketing Services

This company was founded in 2012 with the passion for the retail industry. This company was
born out of successfully launching a Beverage Merchandising Zambia (BMZ) in 2007. BMZ
raised the standard of merchandising in Zambia since the focus was on Zambian Breweries (ZB)
Total Beverage business that included Sparkling Beverages, Lagers and Sorghum (Maheu)
Ebson was working with Allan Brett and Shona Lee Brett. He successfully managed ZB
merchandising business throughout Zambia with a total compliment of 132 merchandisers
nationwide. During this period, Ebson received some training from South Africa, Botswana and
Swaziland.

In October 2008, Ebson moved to Lusaka and worked for Spar Arcades which was the flagship
of Spar Zambia. Ebson worked at Arcades Spar as the Service Departments Manager.

Ebson worked at Choma Spar which is about 300 km from Lusaka and was launched in 2008.
Choma Spar had a compliment of about 45 internal staff members including 5 departmental
managers. Choma Spar excelled to become Zambia’s best during this time in terms of sales and
profitability.
Ebson had previously worked for Spar Soweto as a Service Departments Manager/ Assistant
General Manager where a notable accomplishment was when the bakery was transformed from
selling 11 000 loaves a day up to 35 000 loaves per day.

In 2006, Ebson worked for Spar Westgate as the General Manager with 55 members of staff
plus 6 departmental managers. That time Spar Westgate performed neck to neck with a huge TM
Westgate.

In 2005, Ebson was head-hunted by Colcom to head the Colcom City Retail shop. This shop had
not made profits for almost 6 months and they had resolved to close it. Ebson worked at Colcom
for 8 months but they had realized some meaningful profits in my second month of operations.

In 2003, Ebson worked for Borrowdale Brooke Spar as the General Manager. Makuvise was
leading 207 employees including 9 departmental managers. This became the flagship of Spar
Zimbabwe.

In 2002, Ebson worked for PT Zhanda where he developed Pork N Pork brand which had a range
of products from processed pork, processed beef, processed chicken and porkers which were
being delivered throughout Harare.

From 1998-2002, Ebson worked for Spar Eastern Region (Head Office) as a Butchery Specialist.
At Spar Distribution Centre, Ebson was looking after 78 Spar Supermarkets. Makuvise was
helping in the recruitment, training and ensuring profitability of all the Spar Butcheries. Under
Spar DC, the following in-house courses were successfully completed;
