TREATMENT PLAN 2

Problems to be addressed

From the case, there are several social work problems that need to be solved. One of the

problems that the client presents is unemployment. She asserts that she has been jobless for

around 3 months. Another problem is that her husband feels sick two months ago and was

diagnosed with stroke and is currently hospitalized. As a result, she has been rendered the

breadwinner and she does not know how to pay the bills or even rent only. Moreover, she is

afraid that they might lose their home. Additionally, she is afraid that her eldest daughter

Emmy might be affected as she is cutting classes and failing some of the courses. On the other

hand, Emmy is also having problems. A major problem that Emmy is undergoing is being

bullied. Due to frequent harassment that she has received in school, her self-esteem has

deteriorated.

How to work with the client to prioritize problems

During the interview, I will ensure that I engage the client as much as I can so that I can

get enough information regarding the situation they are undergoing in order to come up with a

list of priority. The best way to attain this is motivating the client to express herself (Spector &

Kitsuse 2017). I will employ empathy during the interview in order to establish a rapport with

them so that they can open up. Also, I will develop discrepancy and promote self-efficacy in

order to give hope to the client that she will overcome the situation. (Alio, 2017). After doing

all these, I will note down all the challenges and identify the core challenge that is the root of

all these problems. From the case, the state of unemployment is the root cause of all the

problems. Therefore, guiding her on how to get a job will be the top priority in this case.

How to use client strengths to choose a strategy for intervention

TREATMENT PLAN 3

In order to use the client's strengths, I will have her retell the stories of challenging

moments in her life with an emphasis on her as a survivor and not a victim. According to

strength based therapy, in taunting moments, people discern their inner strengths and the mode

in which people deal with problems relies on whether they feel like they are tackling an issue

from a position of strength or deficit (Rashid, 2015).

Two treatment plan goals

i) Counsel the client on what she can do to secure a job in order to pay for her bills

ii) Guide the client to manage the stressful condition surrounding her

One measurable objective to meet each goal

The client will send CVs and go to interviews in order to make an effort of getting

employed

The client will join focus groups and programs so that she can share her condition and

listen to how others managed their condition in order to eliminate stress

Specific action steps to achieve objectives

i. The first thing that the client will have to do is browsing the internet to look for

jobs within her locality

ii. She can also ask friends if they have heard a job advert that is within her

expertise

iii. After identifying a list of available jobs, she will send applications and wait for

interviews

iv. She will also make calls in case there are delays
TREATMENT PLAN 4

v. On the other hand, she will also inquire for any programs within the locality that

aid in managing stress

vi. After identifying, she will choose the best and ensure that she attends them
