Verification Method for Gas Analyzer

The objective of the verification process is to ensure that that gas analyzer sensor are still in good
condition and the gas verification results are within the acceptable range.

1.0 Equipment used for the verification of gas analyzer

a. Reference Gas Cylinder

c. Gas Regulator

2.0 Method of verification

a. Gas regulator is fixed onto the reference gas cylinder. The gas pressure can be controlled at
the gas regulator pressure gauge. The pressure used is based on the gas analyzer
manufacturer specification.
b. Tygon tubing is place at the regulator and then it is connected to the gas analyzer at the
specified gas pressure.
c. The gas analyzer switch is on and at the same time the gas regulator valve is open
accordingly.
d. The laboratory personnel will then record the concentration of gases detected by the gas
analyzer.
e. The gases concentration detected by the gas analyzer should be within ±20% of the
reference gas. This is referred as the acceptance criteria. ( Reference based on IEC 60079-
29-1)
f. The gas analyzer can be used once the acceptance criteria are fulfilled.
