• Our ancestors worshipped the five elements of nature
Earth as ‘Prithvi’
Water as ‘Jal’
Energy as ‘Agni’
Air as ‘Vayu’
Sky as ‘Akash’
• A green building which contains all these natural elements in its design
and construction.
• So as to have Eco-friendly, low energy and low water consumption
building.
• Refers to a structure and using process that is environmentally
responsible and resource efficient throughout a building’s life cycle: from
sitting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and
demolition.
• Green building –also known as sustainable or high-performance building
increases the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use energy,
water, and materials.

Objectives of Green Building-

Green building is designed to reduce the overall impact of building on

environment and on human health by:
To minimize the use of natural resources like ground cover, water, forests,
energy, etc.
To reduce overall impact of building on environment and human health.
To reduce waste, pollution and environmental degradation
To select proper building materials and use recycled and scrap materials having
low energy requirement
