Research Based Learning- Year 7 Science

Aim: To explore different action and solutions (locally/globally) to maintain biodiversity for achieving
food security/sustainability and improved nutrition.

Objective: Analyse and evaluate the effective ways/steps/measures taken to reach zero hunger.

Outcome: To create awareness among the community about the effective ways/steps we can take
to reach zero hunger by/through posters, videos, website, booklets, news article etc.

Key Questions to consider:

• What causes poverty?

• What are the ways of reducing food waste at home?
• What are the ways of reducing food waste at restaurants
• How can technology increase food production?
• What are the different steps to ensure zero hunger?
• How could an increase in production help to reach zero hunger?
• Impacts of climate on food production.
• Quantitative Experimental study by scientists and interpretation of their experimental data
and results. (research question, methodology, data, analysis etc. need to be included)
• Choose any one STEP to reach to zero hunger, and carry out research to analyze how
effective it is. Collect evidence and data from various sources, create graphs, interpret the
graph, and give a conclusion.

You can give a driving question related to this, it is not necessary to be the same for all
sections
Eg. Is reducing food waste at home a major step to reach zero hunger?
Does the use of technology help to reach zero hunger?
