JOB DESCRIPTION

EQUITY COORDINATOR
ARGO COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL

SUMMARY The Equity Coordinator is responsible for working with all stakeholders at Argo to facilitate
equity initiatives outlined in the District’s Equity Action Plan. The Equity Coordinator will
stay current on best practices and work with teachers and PLC teams to integrate best
practices related to equity into the current or emerging curriculum and culture of the school.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

CLASSIFICATION: 10 Month (.6 FTE)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Meet with teachers to have collaborative conversations and identify the needs, interests and
type of equity initiatives desired by teachers, teams and PLCs.
 Be an active member on the School Improvement Team at school and any district committee
regarding learning and teaching.
 Lead professional discussions about best practices in Equity during common planning time, faculty
meetings, PLC and other professional learning opportunities.
 Work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers to provide ongoing instructional coaching.
 Assist in identifying, planning, and facilitating workshops, Institute and School Improvement, and
other in-service programs that contribute to the professional learning of staff.
 Purposefully and frequently communicate with teachers through conversation, e-mails, memos,
newsletters, web sites, study groups and other appropriate methods.
 Additional responsibilities include forming and meeting together with student groups, teacher
groups, and parent groups to create and carry out multi-cultural programming in the school and
community.
 The Equity Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all equity-related activities and initiatives at
Argo Community High School.
 The Equity Coordinator will facilitate all equity trainings and professional development for faculty
and staff and will work closely with Argo Community High School stakeholders in carrying out
the Equity Action Plan.
 The Equity Coordinator will work closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal for Student
Experiences and Community Engagement, the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning, and
Division Chairs to plan and implement equity initiatives across curriculum and within the larger
school community.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform such tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the
Superintendent and Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Valid Illinois Teacher’s License
 Five years of exemplary classroom teaching experience
 Evidence of experience with Professional Learning Communities or similar results-based
collaboration
 Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and
accountability to the position
 Evidence of own on-going professional learning
 Must possess excellent communication skills, be flexible, develop collegial relationships and
promote two-way communication. The Equity Coordinator must be able to listen, share ideas,
identify obstacles to student growth and plan together with individual teachers and Professional
Learning Communities

HOURS: 7:00AM-4:00 PM
