YEAR IN REVIEW Success

By Adithya Rao and Ritvik Kandarkar Editor Spotlight

What a year 2022 has been for AEZ! With 42

active members and 4 newly initiated brothers,
AEZ is bigger than ever. With the large active
body, we've been able to accomplish and
regularly put on incredible social and professional
events. Not only this, but we have truly bolstered
our reputation across the larger Bay Area in under
a year! In this newsletter, we will highlight some of
our best moments of this year, showcase our
accomplishments, and what is to come. Cheers to
an even more successful and memory filled year!

Active - Alumni
Plans
20th Anniversary Banquet
General Plans
The year has finally come, AEZ will be celebrating its 20th
Anniversary this semester! The active body is beyond
ecstatic to help coordinate this entire event with the alumni
board. It has been years since we last had a banquet, which
means that this occasion will be even more grand and festive.
At this time, banquet is tentatively scheduled to be in early
April, but we will send further details out shortly. We highly
encourage every single AEZ alumni to attend this monumental
event, as our brothers are working diligently to plan this event
and we would be delighted to finally meet all of you under
one roof. This will be a night full of memories, drinks, dancing,
good food, and of course, brotherhood.

Alumni/Active Planing Committee

To ensure a successful 20th Anniversary, the active body
wants to work closely with Alumni to get their input on
venues, locations, and timing. We are forming an official
committee of 7 - 10 Alumni who would give their input
and spread the word about the event. As an active body
we would greatly appreciate it if you guys could help us out
here. It's a great way to give back to AEZ, get to know the
active body better, and most importantly plan out this
monumentous event for an organization that has been such
a big part of all our lives

Perks of joining: Free AEZ Swag (Rush shirts and AEZ

20th anniversary shirts) and a special shoutout to the
Alumni committee will be made at the event.
Active - Alumni Activities
Bringing Back Alumini Active Events
The active body wants to reconnect with Alumni more often,
and to do so we have brainstormed a few short and fun
activities for the upcoming months.

Listed below are some of the ideas:

Poker Night (BHouse)

Happy Hour (SF or Oakland)
Basketball Game (Anywhere)
Dinner

How you can participate

If you're interested in being involved in any of the events
above or are interested in potentially coming to our
Thursday meetings at Haas make sure to fill out the form
below.

Sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/AEZxAlumniEvents

We are also planning on starting an AEZ Alum X Active

interview session where one of the active body members
interviews an Alumni to get to know them better and to get
an idea of what they are up to now. These interviews will be
recorded and sent to the AEZ Global Google Group. We
think this is a good way for alumni to stay updated about
one another and also a good way for the actives to get to
know the alumni better.
Donations

This year, with over 40 brothers we are looking to raise $7000. Most of which
will be going towards the 20th-anniversary banquet, as well as various
professional conferences such as BioTech@Berkeley and Innovate. The top 10
donations (have to be over $50) will receive free AEZ rush shirts shipped to
them)

AEZ EVENT
RECAP
Innovate @ Berkeley
On Dec 4, 2022, AEZ hosted Innovate@Berkeley 2022 after a 5 year
hiatus at Hotel Shattuck Plaza. The planning for the event started in August
with a sub-committee formed to lay the foundation for the event. A new
branding for the event and website was created with the intention of
bringing back Innovate as an annual AEZ event. We then reached out to top
VC's, startups founders, and funded startups to put together the entire day
of events. Innovate this year consisted of an expo booth with funded
startups to recruit students, a VC panel, startup founder panel, 2 sets of
Keynote Speakers, and pitch challenge for UC Berkeley student founders.
We had participation from top VC firms including The House Fund,
Bessemer Venture Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Two Sigma
Ventures, and The Skydeck Fund. Additionally, we were grateful to be
joined by AEZ’s own alum, Nikhil Arora and Akash Malhotra. The event
had great attendance throughout the 5 hour event and bolstered AEZ’s
professional & startup presence on campus. Over 200 resumes were
compiled from attendees and sent as resume books to the startup booths.
Innovate@Berkeley is now set up with a strong foundation and guidelines to
be organized on an annual basis.
AEZ x Zahanat
In May, AEZ is proud to have hosted its largest
social event in years, AEZ X Zahanat, an after-
party with the biggest dance teams across
California. We were able to sell over 300 tickets
and host 5 South Asian dance teams. This
event not only helped bolster ties with other
South Asian organizations but helped increase
student awareness about our fraternity. Our
brothers were able to have a ton of fun, make
amazing memories, and end of the Spring
semester with a bang!
Yacht Party
In November, AEZ had its second Yacht Event. The Yacht passed by
the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and other San Francisco hot
spots while the men enjoyed their time on the Yacht with their
friends and their dates. Brothers connected with one another and
had a great time relaxing on the party bus and the yacht, listening
to their favorite tunes and dancing. The pledges were also invited
to this brotherhood event which allowed them to not only bolster
their connections with our active body but learn more about the
history of our organization. The active body is looking forward to
carrying out this tradition for semesters to come. Cheers to many
more yacht parties in the future!
Alumni Mixer

As part of our Fall Rush process, the active body was able to organize an
amazing Alumni Mixer at Urban Putt in San Francisco. The active brothers
and rushees were joined by Nikhil Arora, Himanshu Shah, Kunal Modi,
Param Shah, and Dilraj Bhadare. Actives had a great time learning about
how AEZ was founded and some of the neat experiences that our alumni
shared. Moreover, the past semester's pledges were able to experience
AEZ's brotherhood in a more informal manner, playing rounds of mini golf
and enjoying some refreshing drinks. Big thank you to brother Aswin
Rameshbabu (Upsilon Class) who has done a fantastic job as rush
coordinator for the past two semesters. We've had such a rich and talented
group of brothers cross into this fraternity over the past year and that is all
thanks to Aswin!
ALUMNI DINNER

Several current actives had the opportunity to meet up with alumni Jesal
Gandhi from the Lambda class at Amber in SF (which we later learned was
a AEZ tradition spot to eat). Over dinner the actives were able to learn a
wealth of knowledge from Jesal ranging from his experiences in investing in
his current role at Point72 to his lessons and memories he has taken away
from his time at Berkeley and in AEZ. A casual dinner like this was a great
opportunity for the actives to catch up with the lives of alumni and learn how
far AEZ has come through the years. Furthermore, this dinner prompted the
actives to reach out more to alumni and prioritize increasing engagement
because we realized how strong the network and brotherhood runs – the
immediate trust and camaraderie is one that is very rare and one that AEZ
has done a great job in fostering.
Paradigm
Overview
AEZ x Juniper - Paradigm Consulting
In the past semester, Paradigm reached out to over 8,000 contacts and had the
opportunity to secure a highly interesting management consulting project with a
stellar client. Paradigm signed a $20,000 project with Juniper Networks, with
the point of contact for the project being Raj Yavtakar, the CTO of Juniper. Our
project scope was to evaluate the market landscape NEWS &between

creations, and case study research. On a weekly basis the team met directly
with the C-Suite to go over relevant findings and the final deliverable was
presented to a larger team and board of directors. The presentations and
frameworks presented were of such value to the CTO and Team that he shared
our presentations with European Telco CEOs that Juniper services. The Paradigm
team created lasting relationships with some of the top leaders in the
telecommunication space and cloud computing space.
AEZ x AWS - Paradigm Consulting
This semester, Paradigm Consulting took on its largest project yet. The
process began at the start of the semester, when we reached out to
employees at over 25 different companies through 10,000 emails and
scheduled calls with dozens of them. Thanks to our impressive track

companies globally. We used the newest technologies to create and
deploy our solution within AWS's internal tools. The cherry on top is
that we turned this project into a multi-semester initiative, allowing us
to continue working with AWS and earning money for our organization.

Culture of
Innovation
AEZ Brothers have been implementing their ideas and disrupting industries
AEZ Startups
Attain (YC W22 Batch)
Attain, founded by AEZ Chi Aamir Hudda (Chi Class), is a
One-Stop Shop for convenience store inventory. Attain is an
app that aims to solve the problem of store owners having to
buy products from multiple suppliers each week, which is a
tedious and inefficient process. This can lead to inventory
shortages and revenue loss, causing stores to downsize or shut
down. Attain provides a single app that allows store owners to
purchase products from multiple suppliers, making the process
more efficient and allowing stores to focus on growing their
businesses. Congrats, Aamir we are very proud of you!!

IDOL
Idol App, founded by Surya Rajan (Chi Class), is a new
way of bringing the biggest artists to college campuses and
other events. Artists can gauge interest in their event by
making an event posting through Idol. Idol's platform
handles the marketing and the payout of these interactions,
which means that artists can solely focus on engaging with
their fans. If the demand for a certain event is not met the
process is very simple - the artist won't come to the event
and the buyers/fans will be refunded. Idol's prospects are
exciting they even have a deal with Artist ABoogie in the
works to get him to come to Berkeley through the Idol
Platform.

Congrats Surya we are all hyped for you!!
