Major/Year: BSE-Science 2 Deadline: February 24, 2021

A. Answer the following questions briefly and in a complete sentence. Answers should be
written right after every question. 10 points each.

1. Being aware of the attributes of a glocal Filipino teacher, have you started developing
these traits? How did you do it?
Yes, I began to work it on by practicing on how to improve my skills, developing
appropriate values, and thinking not just for one but for the whole. Also, I started
learning things like using technology which is very relevant today because of the
pandemic. Most of the time, I used social media to watch another happening occurs in
other countries which can help me to know other things that are not heard or broadcast
here in the Philippines. And I believe that poor and ineffective professional development
hurts teachers. It hurts their students. It hurts their community since quality education
is so highly correlated with economic growth, it hurts the nation, and that is why I
started working on things even just a little by little at least there is progress.

2. According to the news months ago, our country is very much behind in terms of student
competencies in basic education compared to other Asian countries. How is this related
to the problem of teacher quality in our country?
I think this kind of situation is somewhat related to the teacher quality of our country
because other teachers don't like their job so it creates an impact on their students and
perhaps because of the number of students they nurturing, it's so hard for them to
guide every one of us especially since 2019 until now everyone is having difficulty in
terms of online learning brought by COVID-19. Some teachers were not good at using
social media or any platforms that are significant today, so maybe that's why they are
having difficulty on how to send their thoughts to their students.

3. How can the government make the teaching profession more attractive to honor
graduates of the basic education curriculum to uplift teacher quality in the country?
First, the government should provide anything that is needed in school like equipment
in science laboratory for the educators to teach effectively, the second one is to increase
salary for them to be able to provide their family needs and to support in case if they
plan to take CPD units which will greatly help them to foster their teaching methods and
to develop certain techniques which are applicable not just now but for the future also.

4. Is CPD a bigger challenge to face for teachers working in remote areas? Would this be
more of a burden or beneficial for their professional growth?
It would be beneficial for them if they are capable or have the stable financial status to
support in taking CPD and if they are into technology or can keep up with the new
medium used in distance learning today for their professional growth but I think it
would be a burden for a teacher especially who are in remote areas because some
training centers or workshops are very far from their home so they can’t manage their
time properly to participate any events and also maybe because they are in remote
areas perhaps they are not given the opportunities to attend seminars gave by DepEd.

5. Have you started developing your philosophy in teaching? If yes, explain it briefly. If no,
give your reasons why?
Yes, I’m fully aware that all students are individuals, and everyone learns in their unique
way, so maybe I will use multiple approaches methods to reach students in the future
(linguistic, visual, auditory, kinesthetic) so that no one is left behind.
