The East Coast Reclamation Scheme

It began in April 1966 and was completed at the end

of 1986. It was the first time in South-East Asia that
a pioneering strategy was used to carry out land
reclamation across an area stretching from Bedok
to Tanjong Rhu. The purpose was to reduce traffic
jams on East Coast Route, which was (At the time)
Singapore's most crowded road. A small
reclamation project along East Coast Road
recovered 19 hectares of land before this operation
in 1963.

Help From The Singapore Government

A 9.9 acres, $1 million traffic games park for
children, operated by the Traffic Police, was built in
1980 as part of the government's ability to build a
part of respect for car drivers.

Main Purpose Of The East Coast Park

The main goal was to ease all the traffic jams on
East Coast Road as it was Singapore's most
overcrowded road.

Where/When/How?
East Coast Park (ECP) covers Marine Parade,
Bedok, and Tampines, and is located in the South-
Eastern Coast Of Singapore: E. Coast Park Service
Rd, Singapore. The area of East Coast Park is: 185
hectares (460 acres).
ECP first opened in April 1966 and took about 20
years to finish the build (The end of 1986.)
Because East Coast Park is a land reclamation, with
a man-made beach, it's built completely on East Coast
reclaimed grounds.

Impacts Park
ECP Service Road leads to the park, which has
multiple exits along the East Coast Parkway. There By: Chloe
is plenty of parking available, with many car parks
located around the park. It is also Singapore's most
visited park (7.5 million visitors annually) there are
also many booths in the park too (ex :East Coast
Lagoon Food Center, East Coast Seafood Center,
etc..)
