I am delighted to recommend AJAKAIYE, DEBORAH ERIOLUWA. She was under


my supervision for a period of one year (twelve-calender month) from 16th
November, 2020 to 15th November 2021 at the Department of Physiotherapy,
University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH ), Nigeria. The level of self-confidence,
self-discipline and reflective development exhibited by her during the period of
internship inspired me to have a closer and persistent communication with her.

She is an alumnus of the prestigious citadel of learning, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS,
Nigeria where she was awarded Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B. PT) degree
programme in the 2018/2019 academic session of which she was among the top 15
best students.

It is noteworthy to commend her therapeutic, counselling and examination


competence, so also, the clinical reasoning and professionalism demonstrated by her
during the internship programme. She demonstrated a very healthy attitude to work
and was dedicated to the duties assigned to her. Her caring disposition potentially
enabled her to penetrate the heart of the patients and clients leading to patient
satisfaction.

The schedule of her work as an intern in this facility was an input of normal 40 hours
of work per week with continuous 7 days (7 x 24 hours = 168 hours) of call duty,
once in every two months at the Neurology unit, Paediatrics unit, Cardiopulmonary
unit, Orthopaedic and Spine unit, Pelvic and Women’s health unit, Community/Pain
and palliative unit, and Geriatric unit.

She is experienced in ergonomic assessment, mobilization and soft tissue massage,


physical assessment of varying Paediatrics (Erb’s palsy, Klumpke’s, Torticollis,
Talipes deformities, Volksmann ischaemic contracture, Cerebral palsy, Autism),
Neurology (Hemiplegia, Parkinson’s, Facial palsy, autoimmune disorders), Pelvic and
Women’s health (uterine/vaginal prolapse, pubic symphysis diastases, pelvic
inflammatory diseases) and orthopaedic conditions (spondylosis/spondylolisthesis,
sprain/strain, osteoarthritis, fracture) etc. She has excellent knowledge in the use of
equipments (mobility aids, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, multigyms,
spirometers) and assessment tools such as pain rating scales, Barthel index, other
outcome measures including auscultation, percussion, lung function test. She is
competent in patient management skills (using the diaphragmatic breathing, huffing,
coughing technique), electrotherapy, cryotherapy, manual therapy, exercise therapy,
bobath techniques, bio-feedback, traction, wax bath, proprioceptive neuromuscular
facilitation, positioning and postural drainage technique.

In addition, she is honest, law-abiding and loyal to duly constituted authorities,


manages time in an efficient and effective manner and is able to manage and sustain a
working relationship with her work colleagues and patients, understands the coverage
and boundaries of professional areas and discipline and can work independently in
advance tasks.
