CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the objectives of the experiment which were to determine the molarity acid,
understand the end point of titrimetric and to calculate the disassociation constant (Ka) have
been achieved. Other than that, we have better understanding of the effects of acid and base
from pH paper as well as knowing the preparation of the buffer solution. In the experiment,
phenolphthalein was used as indicator to determine the alkaline solution during the
experiment .From the experiment, the value molarity of acetic acid is 0.0029 M and the value
of dissociation constant acetic acid, (Ka) is 1.0 X 10−5 . From this, it shows that acetic acid is
a weak acid.

RECOMMENDATION

There are a few recommendations in this experiment in order to get more precise and
accurate data. First of all, all of the apparatus such as beaker, conical flask, and burette should
be thoroughly cleaned with distilled water as to ensure that the contamination of the solution
that could affect the experiment would not occur. Other than that, the measurement of sodium
hydroxide solution in the burette might be less accurate due to the burette not parallel to the
eyes level. Thus, the adjustment of the burette parallel to the eyes level is needed in order to
improve the recorded data of the volume of NaOH used in the experiment. Furthermore, the
use of indicator of the titration must be well informed as the overuse of the indicator can lead
to inaccurate result of acid and base measured.
