STUDENT ESSAY FORM (StEF)
Effective Date:
Every individual has unique qualities. In addition to the things we are good at, there are other things
that we excel in. Therefore, we may team up with someone who is strong at it to complement the areas
we are weak in. You create groups as a result. The benefits of belonging to a group are substantial. We are
aware that every person has traits in common with and distinct from others. After understanding yourself,
you may either strive to get better at the areas you aren't excellent at or merely try to ask for help from
others who are. This will enable you to grow both as a person and as a friend.
By talking with one another, being in a group may help you further widen your knowledge. Knowing
that you have supporters behind you might also help you stay motivated. Being a part of a group may be
beneficial or detrimental depending on whether you attempt to develop yourself or just rely on the
others. Joining groups satisfies our need to fit in, enables us to learn and grow via social comparison,
establishes our sense of self and social identity, and enables us to accomplish tasks that we would not be
able to complete on our own. Groups are useful since they perform the majority of the world's labor as
opposed to individuals.
Any group will perform at its peak when good leadership skills are combined with knowledge of group
development. By paying great attention to team member differences, social loafing and groupthink may
be avoided. Performance of the team depends on effective member management and ensuring that each
member is treated fairly in all situations.
