With your significant contribution(s) of being part of a group, how did it contribute to your
personal growth and development?
Student’s Answer:

Being part of a group especially when you don’t know the people around our group is like stepping outside
of your comfort zone since you will be uncomfortable on being a group that you don’t know each person
are. However, being part of a group is essential for personal growth and developments because it
improves our social skills and the skills that we are not good at by learning to the other people that are
good at it. With our significant contributions in a group, we are gaining better understanding about
ourselves on who we are and what can be we capable of.

Also being part of a group give us a sense of belonging where we feel like we won’t be left out by being
with other people and cooperating with them which helps in increasing our self-esteem and connections
with other people as well. Our contributions in a group will help us to know more about ourselves as well
the others we will be able to learn through others on how we cooperate and synergize our ideas with
theirs which I think what being in a group will teach us. I think overall the essentials that I have learned
and improved within myself was my cognitive skills because I can hear different opinions and suggestions
on how I work with other people which is beneficial on improving my skills as well as my weaknesses from
the other people within my group.

Although being part of a group is great for personality development, we should also be aware that it has a
downside as well. Like being too dependent on our group members could lead to neglecting our self-
improvement which hindrance our growth as a person. We should learn how to balance our dependency
and being independent so we would not lose our cognitive skills due to our dependency on others.
