This document provides instructions for students to complete a lab assignment on visual acuity and specialty testing. It lists the required and provided equipment. The lab is divided into two parts - the first focuses on distance and near visual acuity testing, and the second involves preliminary and specialty testing using various tools like the Amsler grid, contrast sensitivity tests, and color vision tests. Students are instructed to perform the tests on each other, record results on the appropriate forms, and have their work verified by an instructor before leaving the lab.

Part I: LV Visual Acuity
Acting patient: You will have your visual acuity tested. Use simulators provided. Acting Doctor: Perform the following tests. Refer to reference notes for step-by-step instructions
1. ETDRS distance VA chart
Measure your patient’s distance visual acuity OD, OS, OU. Record result on LV exam form.
2. Feinbloom distance VA chart
Re-test distance visual acuity OD, OS, OU. Record result on LV exam form.
3. Lighthouse continuous text near VA card
Measure your patient’s near visual acuity OU only at patient’s habitual working distance. Record result on LV exam form.
Part II: LV Preliminary & Specialty Testing
Acting patient: Use simulators provided. Acting Doctor: Perform the following tests. Refer to reference notes for step-by-step instructions
Rotate through the different testing stations with your partner.
4. Dynamic Vision Disk test
Perform Vision Disk OD, OS. Record result on LV exam form.
5. Dynamic Amsler grid test
Perform Vision Disk OD, OS. Record result on Amsler grid sheet.
6. MARS Contrast Sensitivity test
Perform Contrast Sensitivity OD, OS. Record result on Contrast Sensitivity form. Interpret result.
