C. Provide explanation of causes (internal and external factors-SWOT analysis).
The SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis was used to identify the
effectiveness of the school’s performance on reading and intervention. Internal factors are the
strengths and weaknesses. Strengths and weaknesses include the resources and capabilities within
the school reading program. Since the school has the most control over internal factors, it can craft
strategies and objectives to exploit strengths and address weaknesses. External factors are the
threats and opportunities. These are factors that the school may be able influence—or at least
anticipate—but not fully control.
The result demonstrates the need for commitment and cooperation between the school, the parents
and the learner in order for the reading program or intervention to be effective. The root cause of the
problem must be addressed to ensure the effectiveness of the action plan. Stakeholders support is
vital for the continuous implementation and improvement of the learners' achievements.
The program requires a specific stratagem to address problem which necessitates careful thought on
providing solution. The identified findings on the School Reading Program S-W-O-T Analysis could be
improved through strategic development plan as every program needs a concrete plan of action to be
taken.

Explain the strength or Weaknesses of past interventions or programs/projects/activities in relation to

The Cumu Integrated School implemented interventions, programs, projects and activities in relation
to reading. Some of which are the Project DARE or Develop Abilities in Reading and Enhancement,
Basa Tayo Kamag-aral Ko Program, NAP or the Noontime Activity Program and the conduct of the
Remedial Reading Class. From previous years up to present, the school is continuously implementing
the said PPAs. All PPAs were implemented by the reading teachers and were closely monitored by the
school reading coordinators and the school head. The PPAs would not have been successfully
implemented without the support and collaborative effort of the teachers, school head and
stakeholders. Positive results gained like, increased in literacy rate of the school, developed the love
for reading among learners, built a strong community partnership, developed camaraderie among
peers and strengthened relationship among teachers. Despite of the said strengths there were also
weaknesses encountered. To mention some – insufficient time during the implementation, more so on
the conduct of the remedial reading class, lack of interest in reading or poor reading habits to some
learners, lack of support to some parents, lack of volunteers or knowledge bearers and insufficient
funds for the reproduction of reading materials.

E. Discuss potential problems if performance issues are not addressed (if necessary)

The class advisers from Grades 1-10 administered reading activities. For Grades 1 and 2, the EGRA
was administered. For Grade 3 it is only in Filipino. Reading materials are found in full package of Phil-
IRI 2018. The Phil-IRI for Grades 4-6, both English and Filipino were conducted. Likewise with Grades
7-10.
After the administration of GST or the Group Screening Test, the advisers of Grades 3-10 found out
that there were learners who can read but can’t comprehend. As a result, they were required to read
reading materials in 2-3 steps lower from their present grade level. If the result of their reading
assessment was very poor, the advisers then thought of constructing an intervention for the learners
to improve their reading level.
However, during the administration or implementation of the intervention, there were some problems
encountered where in the learners can’t read by that time because he/she was absent due to time
constrain, some learners were not interested in reading, poor reading habits to most learners, lack of
funds in reproduction of reading materials. But then the advisers made a way to conduct the
intervention/remedial reading class so that learners will develop/improve their reading level/reading
performance.
