Video Response Writing to Residential School Survivor

We have come to the end of our first unit! We have been learning about Residential Schools and the impact they had on Indigenous
communities. We have come to end of this unit, and you will now have the opportunity to listen to the story of Residential School survivors and
write a response to one of their stories.

Your Task:
Using the link below, please select one of the Residential School survivors’ stories to respond to.

Writing your response:

 Your response is to be typed and double spaced (up to 2 pages in length)


 Your response should clearly state who’s story you are using and why
 Your response should include what new insight(s) you have gained from their personal story
 Your response should clearly state how you intend to support the Indigenous community going forward
 Your response should conclude with a note of thanks for their willingness to share their story
 Be sure to identify whether this is a primary or secondary source and use Chicago Manual Style to reference your work. That said, be
sure to have a bibliography page.
 Your response should also identify which of the six historical thinking perspectives is being used and how these stories have shaped the
events of Canada’s past and present.
