Personal Profile:

I am a 2nd year BSc Environmental Science student at the University


of Plymouth. I am working towards a career in environmental science
which my education and experiences will help me achieve. I have a
good understanding of scientific, economic, and social knowledge
surrounding the environment. I also have a range of fieldwork, oral
presentation, and field report experience.

Education:

The University of Plymouth, BSc (Hons) Environmental Science: September


2021 to Current

 First class in first-year, average grade 72%.


 Studied topics such as environmental management and protection,
pollution, and global environmental challenges.
 Modules such as The Physical Environment allowed me to further
my report writing skills and fieldwork in a study monitoring water
quality, for which I received 88%.

Volunteering as a Student Representative: September 2022 to Current


 Feeding back information from course students to school
representatives and higher
 Being able to relay information in a crowded room to my superiors.
 Recognising specific issues and being able to come up with a clear
solution.

Skills:

Communication- Confident speaker, easily able to give verbal presentations in front


of an audience. Additionally, clearly convey scientific knowledge verbally and
through written reports, evidenced in marks awarded.

Research- Adept at gathering and manipulating data. Both from preexisting data
sets or analyzing newly collected data and using these to reach a reliable
conclusion. These are evidenced in air quality monitoring presentations and other
scientific essays.

Data Analysis- Advanced use of data table analysis using Microsoft Excel, Minitab
and ArcGIS.
Environmental Experience:

Founder of the Gardening Society: November 2022 to Current


I am using my education as an environmental scientist to inform
decisions associated with the society. Reclaim unused lands to plant
and harvest crops for student and local consumption. I am teaching
other students how to organise and maintain a garden through
practical skills, presentations and communication--furthering students’
understanding of composting and land management.

Volunteering with Barefoot Conservation: November 2019 to


December 2019
I was gathering data on fish and manta ray populations while scuba
diving, injecting crown-of-thorns starfish to help coral reefs. This
allowed me to improve my technical and teamworking skills in an
underwater environment.

Employment:
Peer Assisted Learning Scheme: September 2022 to Current
Giving bi-weekly presentations to first-year students to facilitate their
learning. Deciding on dates for our sessions, then feeding this back to
the first years and creating presentations for them. Tailor sessions to
the student’s needs and desires on the day of the session. Working in
a group of 6 PALS leaders relaying information between students and
PALS leaders
