Incident Report

Good day,

I am Mira Dianna C. Maravilla from BSN 1-6. I just want to convey an incident that happened
last May 19, 2022. I went to the girls’ restroom while holding my reviewer for the subcutaneous return
demonstration. After I peed, I stayed there for a while since I have a cold at that time. I find it cold inside
our classroom and I thought that it would be better to stay in the restroom for a while to study the
remaining parts of the retdem. Meanwhile, 2 of the other girls went inside and as time passes by small
groups of girls went inside as well while talking softly. Behind this, ofcourse, the tendency of the volume
to become louder, increased, which called the attention of the faculty outside the restroom.
As I was reviewing my study sheet, I heard a loud shout from the outside and at that time,
what I remembered was the other girls are running toward the inside of the cubicles, so what I first did
was run inside the cubicle as well without even knowing what was really going on. After I went inside
that cubicle, I saw that there are 2 of us inside that cubicle so I went outside the door of the cubicle and as
I went outside, I saw Prof. Mansing and she made me stop before I even leave the door of the restroom
and said asked if are we making her look like a fool knowing that they can see what was happening inside
the restroom by the reflection of the mirror that can be seen from the door.
After that, I went to the room of my respective group from that BACON subject but when I was
about to sit down, she opened the door of our room and then called me back to face her because she has
something to say. So, I immediately went back to stand up and face her while she was standing at the
door. She scolded me for what I did, which is to run inside the cubicle and make her look like a fool, and
even mentioned to my parents, if “is that how you treat your parents?”. I immediately said no, and I
apologized to her and didn’t manage to explain my side because I believe that it would make her even
mad as a sign of respect, I also acknowledged that what I did was wrong as well. What made me nervous
was when she asked for my name, and as I am stating my surname, I was really shaking and then she
repeated my surname and closed the door while looking at me directly in the eyes.
I was shaking, and I hold my tears back as much as I can, I had an anxiety attack after and cried.
Knowing that I also have a lot of things to think of, aside from academics, since I’m also far away from
my family back in the province, I didn’t want to have any issues inside the campus or any other problems
with the professors, since my only goal here is to study peacefully.
To be honest, I really didn’t want to report this incident and make it look like it was a complaint,
we just wanted to be heard and address the voice of us girls who were in that incident as well that what
happened was unintentional and what Prof, Mansing was thinking that we were disrespecting her isn’t
true as well. Who would want to disrespect a professor? I’d say, not I. It also came to my mind and Ms.
Icban (who is one of the girls who was in that incident, and the one inside the same cubicle as me) that we
wouldn’t even file any complaints since there’s a high possibility that she’ll be our clinical instructor on
the following school years and we wouldn’t want to have any tension that might possibly occur if she
were to be our clinical instructor. So, if we were given a chance by the college dean to choose our c.i. if
she would be our assigned c.i. for a certain subject, I would like to sincerely request to give us consent to
choose our clinical instructor for that given subject.
In addition, if there’s a chance that we were to be called by the dean to report the incident personally, I
also wanted to request our names to be kept hidden from Prof. Mansing and we wouldn’t want her to take it
personally from us since we might be her future students.

Hoping for your kind consideration, thank you.

Respectfully Yours,

Mira Dianna C. Maravilla
