Corrected Marker Configurations

MultiCard Configurations
With the introduction of the new PrintJet CONNECT printer, the MultiCard configurations have been revised.
As a result, in conjunction with other MultiCard printers and plotters, the previous settings have to be checked and, if necessary,
adjusted in order to achieve an optimal and centered imprint.

The options in the Adjust Marker Type area are available for this purpose:

Implementation of Functions for the PrintJet CONNECT

Printer Explorer
After installing the M-Print® PRO version ≥ 8.10, the Printer Explorer opens, which can be used to simply add the new PrintJet
CONNECT printer (article number 115/230V - 2715590000) either as a USB or network printer.

Further information is available in the document Printersetup.pdf (on DVD or after installing the
M-Print® PRO via Start - Programs - Weidmüller - M-Print® PRO - Printer Setup).

Status Monitor
The status monitor displays the printer status or print jobs depending on the setting (Always show status monitor, Show minimized in
the toolbar...).
Ink cartridge and ink collector level indicators are now displayed as percentages.
PrintJet CONNECT no longer distinguishes between printing and fixing for the status of print jobs. Since several marker cards can be
in the device at the same time, the status is now displayed as In process.

Particularly important information is highlighted with a warning triangle for the PrintJet CONNECT. This can be, for example, full ink
collectors or low ink levels.

Settings in Options

General

Under Tools – Options the PrintJet CONNECT is included.

Here, for example, the general print quality "Premium", "Quality" or "Standard" is set or the recommended setting from the
configuration is retained.
Additionally, the desired Color Profile can be selected. This option is used to adjust the contrast of the print. In addition to the
Weidmüller recommendation, "Text", "Graphic" and "Optimized" are available.

Furthermore, the "Automatic measurement in the printer" can be activated or deactivated.

Since marker types made of polyamide can be subject to length fluctuations, a size correction of the print image may be necessary.
By default, this function is selected with the option "Only measure the first marker". The PrintJet CONNECT now performs a length
measurement for the first card of each different marker type of a print job and automatically adjusts the size of the print image. The
length adjustment then applies to all other cards of the same type.
Alternatively, each card can be measured using "Measure all markers".

This ensures that the printing is always placed correctly.

When printing on PrintJet CONNECT printers the “Automatic Measurement” is only possible, if the marker type
supports this function.
MetalliCard markers, for example, cannot be measured automatically.

The option "Heating adjustable" activates this setting on the Information Page of each marker type. For more information, see page
6f.

Administration

Under "Administration", the "Open Remote Desktop Connection..." button can be used to access the selected printer in case of
service.
In addition, functions are available to perform printer updates or create support files, if required.

With Help - Check for Updates you can download the corresponding data to start updating the printer.

Printer Groups

This option allows several PrintJet CONNECT printers to be combined into a printer group.

When preparing the print job, the individual print pages are sorted and distributed to the available printers in the printer group.

Marker Specific Settings on the Information Page

While the settings in the PrintJet CONNECT Options mean general standards for all marker types, the settings in the
Information Page allow marker-specific adjustments.
Weidmüller has determined the optimum print quality and heating level for all MultiCards and MetalliCards, which are considered in
the provided configurations.
If these are to be adjusted after all, the option "Heating Adjustable (Info Page)" can be activated as described above under Tools -
Options - PrintJet CONNECT - General.

Then, on the Information Page of the selected marker, it is possible to gradually increase or decrease the heating level for the
assigned printer.

At this point the Preheat Time can also be activated and specified. This is recommended to increase the print quality of color graphics
or full-surface printing.

On the Information Page, you can also change the print quality for the selected marker type (different from the default
setting in Options).

Here you can choose between "Premium", "Quality" and "Standard" or keep the setting from Tools - Options.
Additionally, the desired color profile can be defined. This option adjusts the contrast of the imprint. In addition to the Weidmüller
recommendation, "Text", "Graphics" and "Optimized" are available.

Adjust Marker Type – Automatic Measurement

Since marker types made of polyamide can be subject to length fluctuations, it may be necessary to correct the size of the printed
image.
If you want to proceed differently for an individual marker type than was generally defined under Tools - Options, you can use the
menu item File - Adjust Marker Type or the button on the Information Page to call up the corresponding dialog.

Here you can activate or deactivate the "Automatic Measurement" for the selected marker type in connection with the assigned
printer.
The PrintJet CONNECT now optionally performs a length measurement for the first card of the marker type or for all markers of the
print job and automatically adjusts the print image size for all cards.

This ensures that the printing is always correctly positioned.

When printing on PrintJet CONNECT printers the “Automatic Measurement” is only possible, if the marker type
supports this function.
MetalliCard markers, for example, cannot be measured automatically.

Print Parameter
All necessary settings are managed in M-Print® PRO and transferred to the printer via the print job. This means that in addition to the
print quality - Premium, Quality or Standard - the correct heating level for each type of marker is also transferred to the printer.
No further settings are required or possible there.
The assigned parameters are displayed in the print dialog.

PJC – File Output

The PrintJet CONNECT has a master USB interface. This can be used to read and print files from a USB stick. To create/store
corresponding files, the "PJC File Output" is assigned as "Printer" under File - Print:
