DESIGN ANALYSIS

The west facing brick temple stands on a pla orm, comprising of a

garbhagṛha, kapili, maṇḍapa, subsidiary corner shrines, prākāra and pratōli,
however, only the garbhagṛha has retained its original form. On eleva on the
temple rises into a four storeyed "straight edged pyramidal" śikhara. The four
layers of the śikhara are marked by bhumis on the corner spire, while the
central spire exhibits well-delineated siṁhakarṇas (candraśālā pediment). The
crowning member of the śikhara is circular with a golden kalaśa finial.
This temple is a notable example of Panchayana Shaili. The temple structure is
supported by twelve towered columns embroidered with stone carvings,
which bear the faces of the various gods of the Hindu mythology. The temple
is an important religious construct visited by devotees from all over the globe
who arrive to offer their prayers to the Lord Vishnu. The Rajivlocana temple
with its evolved architectural style and sculptural finesse suggests the
beginning of north Indian temple architecture in the region of Chha sgarh.
