Genetics is a branch of biology that deals with the heredity and variation of organisms.

Variation is the
differences between individuals of the same species caused by genetic and environmental factors.
Genetic Variation is the presence of differences in sequences of genes between individual organisms of a
species foe e.g. eye color. It enables natural selection one of the primary forces that drive the evolution
of life. Phenotype “Pheno,” meaning to observe refers to an observable trait such as the physical
properties/ characteristics of an organism for e.g. height, eye colour and blood type. A genotype is
known as an individual’s collection of genes and genetic material passed between generations. The
genetic contribution to the phenotype is called the genotype. Some traits are largely determined by the
genotype while other are largely determined by environmental factors.
