Passive tenses

Sentence = S + V (Active)
Sentence = S + be + V (PPII) (Passive)
I teach English. English is taught by me.
We memorized Syn8. Syn8 was memorized by us.
Boldoo will play DOTA. DOTA will be played.
1. There is no agent
A book was read.
The project has been done.
Roads will be repaired.
2. An agent does not do the action itself
I was born in Bulgan.
3. Emphasize
I will never leave you. =>
You will never be left by me.
I love you. => You are loved by me.

Causative
Active: S + causative verb + agent + V + O
I had Nyamka bring a cup of coffee.
Passive: S + causative verb + O + V (PPII)
I had a cup of coffee brought.

Have Saraa has Boldoo fix her car.


Make Saraa makes Boldoo fix her car.
Get “to” Saraa gets Boldoo to fix her car.
Force, compel
*Make I made this machine work. (Not worked)
Let I will let you use my car.
Allow “to” I will allow you to use my car.
Permit
*Let I am letting this machine cool. (Not
cooled)
