This speech discusses defining success and how to achieve it as a police officer. It states that success does not happen overnight, and one must work hard for it. As police demands change, officers must adapt to challenges for the organization and their families. The path to success is difficult, so officers must support each other. They should perform their duties well, no matter their role or rank, and do quality work with passion and perseverance. The speech concludes that true success is becoming the best version of oneself while maintaining peace of mind, joy, and being a blessing to others.

Like a tale as old as times, many of our elders says that success never comes overnight or in a blink of an eye, you have to work for it, and that there is no magic formula to achieve it. The demands and pressures for us police officers of today are way too different than it was before. As the PNP tries to catch-up with the ever- changing and fast-paced community policing, we, the one’s they called “rank-in-file” needed to adapt to these changes and challenges, hindi lang para sa ating organisasyon kundi maging sa ating mga sarili at sa ating pamilya. Ang daan tungo sa tagumpay ay madilim, mabato at matarik that is why we need each other to give light and hope to our fellow public servants. Maybe you will ask me not why, but how can we make the light of our colleague’s dim? You are the reason why the light and hope of your colleague dim, by not doing your job well, “compliance” ika nga “pwede na yan basta hindi mag- explain”. And mind you mam/sir, the “compliance” attitude… ay parang virus na nakakahawa. Other young police officers might say “Patrolman/woman lang naman ako”, “sa traffic lang naman ako”.. mga ading ko, never be disheartened by the rank or position you are holding now. Kung beat patroller ka, be the best beat patroller. Kung encoder ka, be the fastest encoder. Sabi nga sa isang libro na nabasa ko kahit isa ka lang street sweeper kapag ginawa mo ng maayos at mahusay ang iyong trabaho an angel from heaven will say “Behold he/she is the best street sweeper on earth”. Always remember, your work is your signature. So let us work with passion, dedication and perseverance until we need no longer introduce ourselves para sabihin na ganun ang kalidad ng trabaho natin. With all of this, how do we define success? If we will get promoted, awarded, build a house, happy family…will that define success? For me, success is when you become the best version of yourself, you have your own peace of mind, feeling joy and contentment in the things that we have, forgiving yourself for all of your shortcomings and the things that you cannot control, and of course being a blessing to everyone that surrounds you. That is all mam/sir. Naimbag nga bigat kadatayo amin. Dios ti Agngina.
