Sagitec Solutions Business Analysis Writing Sample

Instructions:

1. Select one of the business scenarios below for submitting your response on ‘how’ you
would employ your business analysis skills and experience to propose your solution.

2. At a minimum, include the following your writing sample:


 Scenario selected
 Applicable assumptions made as part of your response
 Questions you would ask the business stakeholders to clarify the scenario
 Business Analysis techniques you would employ to clarify the scenario
 User Interface “mock-up” – the “mock up” must be in Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Visio, or .jpeg formats
 Description of how the user interface meets the business needs identified in the
scenario

3. Limit your response to no more than three (3) pages.

Business Scenario Selection:


Select one of the following business scenarios for your writing sample submission.

Business Scenario 1: A client wants to provide an online interface for new members to
enroll themselves with their system.

Business Scenario 2: A client wants to provide an online interface for existing members to
apply for a loan based on their retirement balance.
1. Business Scenario:

A client wants to provide an online interface for new members to enroll themselves
with their system.

2. Assumptions:

 The new member is assumed to be the new employee of the client’s organization.
 Assuming the existing system has the data structure that includes all the necessary
information including name, employee id, email id, mobile number, department,
address, designation, Joined date, retirement date, retirement balance, attendance
and etc.
 Assuming the Employee ID given to the employee already

3. Questions to the business stakeholders to clarify the scenario:

 Name the list of departments that exists in the organization?


 What are the Organization structure and designations?
 Any privileges or restrictions in the system based on the level of an employee or
department?
 What is the list of data that we need to get from the employee during the
enrollment?
 What is the mandatory data need to be given by the new employee?
 Is there any default / system generated data?
 The new member should be able to enroll themselves by opening the web
application URL or they should be able to open through email link provided by the
org?

4. Business Analysis techniques to clarify the scenario:

explain. The Following Mind map made using the tool micro.com
5. Mock up: Designed in PowerPoint
6. Description of how the user interface meets the business needs identified in the
scenario.

The scenario chosen is enrolling a new member in the system. As the Employee ID has
already been given to the employee, it can be used as the reference to enroll into the
system themselves.

If the Employee Id is not in the database, we shall show the information that “EMP ID” is
wrong and restrict them from enrolling in the system.

The necessary information shall be obtained from the UI in order to enroll them.

Note: We also can get the all these information during the signup itself. But I believe this
is the easy and best practice to obtain the information as the member shall have the
privilege to update the information whenever they want.
