C. WORKING PROCEDURES
ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS CHECK
Measure and record climatic conditions before the work commences including:
Dew point,
Relative humidity,
Ambient temperature,
Substrate temperatures.
Painting works shall not proceed if:

MIXING
1. Clean brushes and paint container with specified thinner as per table 1.
2. Prepare a proper amount of resin (component A) and stir in the container. Make
sure the amount of resin (component A) can be used within expected pot life.
3. Add parts of curing agent (component B) to parts of resin (component A). Mix
thoroughly until uniformly blended. Allow some time (induction time) for the
components to be induced. Make sure amount of materials can be used within
expected pot life. Use thinner when necessary but not exceeding 10% at a time.
4. Always check pot life, induction time, mixing ratio, interval between coat and
thinner type for primer, intermediate, and top coat according to paint product data

APPLICATION
1. Stripe coat sharp edges and welds before painting. Apply primer using brush
across the surface. Initial strokes shall have parallel orientation. Leave the paint
for about 5 – 10 seconds before starting the subsequent strokes.
2. Apply subsequent strokes in the perpendicular orientation to the previous stroke.
3. Apply each coat evenly across the surface and measure the thickness with WFT
thickness gauge until WFT (Wet Film Thickness) as per table 1 is achieved.
Ensure the coats are complete and seal any pinholes from the previous coat.
Check visually for defect areas or any area not covered properly and repair the
paint as necessary.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 7 for intermediate and top coats. Check and ensure interval
time for each constitution (primer / intermediate) has been passed as per table 1.
This is to allow primer and intermediate fully cured and build their strength by
releasing their solvent to the air.
5. Clean all equipment with specific thinner as per table 1.
Note:
All painting materials that have been mixed and already exceeding their pot life
cannot be reused and shall be discharged.
Thinners are not interchangeable (use only thinner for each constitution as per
table 1)
REPAIR SYSTEM
Repair system for touch up painting work is classified as per table below:
Sagging, bubbling, Use sand paper or abrasive paper to clean the defects
running, orange skin followed by repainting on defect area.

D. RECORDS
After work complete, all data shall be recorded in painting inspection report. Example of
painting inspection report can be seen in MHK-ENTY-FRM-FOP-INS-0112.
