INVESTITURE CEREMONY of the NEW MEMBERS of PAULBA NHS BOYS

SCOUT OF THE PHILIPPINES ADVENTURERS CLUB
September 24, 2022

The investiture ceremony is the time when a Scout, through the words of the Scout
Promise, publicly announces their commitment to the Scout Law. At the ceremony, the Scout
makes the Promise to the Scouts and Scouters of their troop and all the Scouts of the world. It
is once the candidate has made the promise that they are a Scout.

The investiture is the beginning of a special time in a young person's life. Scout-aged
children are entering the stage of life when they desire to break away from their parents, find
out about the world, and try to shape their own identity in it. Scouting desires that a major
part of the identity that these young people form is that of being a Scout.

To formally publicly announced their commitment to the Scout Law and the Boys
Scout of the Philippines, the new members of Paulba NHS Boys Scout of the Philippines
Adventurers Club members attended the investiture ceremony last September 24, 2022, at
Paulba National High School Gymnasium. The activity started at exactly 9:30 AM, after the
parade during the International Day of Peace 2022. It was facilitated by the four outfit
advisors of the Boys Scout of the Philippines, outfit one Scouter Mara Lyka R. Sodsod, outfit
two Scouter Maricon Dion S. Olarte, outfit three Scouter Jameson Rebaison, and Scouter
Alqueen C. Reyteran as the BSP Coordinator. The investiture started with a prayer followed
by the message of the four outfit advisors and a short orientation for each outfit by the
assigned outfit advisor to them. Right after the short orientation, the activity continued to the
investiture proper. During the investiture, the Senior Scout Leader wears their Type A
uniform and the outfit advisor put the neckerchief on them as a sign of accepting the
challenge to be part of the Boys Scout of the Phillippines. They also recited the scout oath
and law as part of the ceremony.

Indeed being part of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines is a great responsibility that
waits for them. Right after the investiture ceremony of the new members, the orientation
proper of new members continued. The Boys Scout of the Philippines coordinator Scouter
Alqueen Reyteran gave his general orientation in BSP. He discussed also the requirements
and the step-by-step process of how to become an Eagle Scout and earn different badges in
scouting.

Being a scout comes with great responsibility. It will always depend on us how we are
going to be that person. According also to Baden Powell, “A scout who has earned the
highest rank is the one who has thoroughly trained himself in Scoutcraft and places that
training on the disposal of the community for public service. The BSP Coordinator inculcated
in the mind of the Scouts that “Once a Scout! Always a Scout!”, a passage that will always
remind them that whenever or wherever places and time will go they should embody the
culture, scouth oath, and law of real scout.
