1. Turn off the main switch in your home
2. Remove the center screw to detach the receptacle cover.
3. pull the receptacle out of the box after removing the two screws holding it.
4. Remove line wires from the old receptacle and transfer them to the new electrical receptacle.
5. Slowly fold wires inside the space behind the receptacle, then push the receptacle into the box.
6. Tighten the screws holding the receptacle box, then screw back the receptacle cover.
7. Switch on the main switch.

Carpentary- is a trade that can be gratifying for it involves repair creation of tangible objects.
Tools needed:
-Hand tools(are powered by hand)
pliers, long nose, cutlers, chalk latte, paint brush
-Power tools(are powered by an engine)
power drill, screwdriver bits, and meter

To be a good carpenter, you should start knowing the hand tools and how to use these tools.

DOOR REPAIRS
A. lubricating a squeaky door
1. examine the hinges for rust or objects that are inserted within
2. apply sewing oil by tapping the nozzle of the oiler on top of the upper portion of each hinge pist.
Make sure it does not overflow.
3. do the same for the other hinge pins
4. try opening and closing the door to test if there is still a squeaky sound

LESSON 1 FAMILY RESOURCES


Available resources of the family- these are the human and material resources.
Human resources- are those shown by members of the family such as abilities, talents, skills,
knowledges, energies, attitudes, and health.
Material resources- refer to objects, things, or possessions.
Activities of the members of the family- the choices/duties to be given to each member.
Priorities of the family- these include goals and objectives in life.
The values, attitudes, and habits of the family- are the things that the family considers worthy. The
family’s cherished ideals.
Conditions in the community- the activities particularly social obligations, are considerations that
must be included in the plan for managing family resources.

FAMILY INCOME
-salaries of the family members and etc

Money income- this is when the family gets paid from the work they’ve done. Can be in form of
salary, pensions, wages, dividends, interests, royalties, vacations, profits, benefits, and rents
Cash- are the coins and bills made by the government
Check- is a piece of paper that serves as your payment when you purchase something.
Gift check- certificate with a printed amount on it.
Credit card- identifies the holder to have his or her purchased billed on a charged amount.

Real or nonmoney income- defined by PAULENA NICKELL and JEAN MUIR DORSEY(1950)
Two types:
direct real income- consists of material goods and services available to the family without the use of
money.
Indirect real income- consists of material goods and services made available after an exchange is
made.

FAMILY EXPENSES
Fixed expenses- are expenses you are obliged to pay regularly like rent payments, instalment
payments, insurance premiums, taxes due, or pledges to church or charitable institutions.
Variable or flexible expenses are expenses that will vary in cost, depending on the family’s current
needs.
Expenses that are paid for you by your employer- are special expenses not listed in your budget and
vary from one person to the other.
Emergency expenses- are those expenses of unexpected events like gifts and etc.

HOUSEHOLD ACCOUNTS
-are short-term records showing the income and expenditures of the family.
-includes cash incomes and expenses incurred by the family daily.

Record sheet system- by using loose sheets with columns, you can immediately write down the
income and expenses of the family.
Envelope system(there are two types)
A. cash payment system- place money in several envelopes
B. the pure sheet accounting system- a large envelope either single or double is used. All bills are
placed inside the envelope and recording is done at a convenient time.

Notebook system- a loose four-leaf or bound notebook can be used for keeping household accounts.
Card-file system- cards are arranged according to the different items of expenditures.

Budget- a planned spending of the income or money of the family
