1. Types of Housekeeping
Institutional and Domestic. Institutional housekeeping refers to
maintenance in commercial lodging buildings, such as hotels, resorts,
and inns. Domestic housekeeping involves cleaning bedrooms,
kitchens, dining areas, living rooms, yards, and other areas around the
home.
2. Domestic and Institutional Housekeeping
The basic concept can be divided into domestic housekeeping, for
private households, and institutional housekeeping for commercial and
other institutions providing shelter or lodging, such as hotels, resorts,
inns, boarding houses, dormitories, hospitals and prisons. Institutional
housekeeping refers to maintenance in commercial lodging buildings,
such as hotels, resorts, and inns. Domestic housekeeping involves
cleaning bedrooms, kitchens, dining areas, living rooms, yards, and
other areas around the home.
3. Scope of Housekeeping Maintenance
The maintenance of buildings and equipment may be the most
important element of good housekeeping. Maintenance involves
keeping buildings, equipment and machinery in safe, efficient working
order and in good repair. It includes maintaining sanitary facilities and
regularly painting and cleaning walls. Refers to the upkeep and
maintenance of cleanliness and orderliness in the house or a lodging
establishment such as a hotel, inn, apartel, condominium, resort,
dormitory, or even a hospital.
4. Standards of Ideal Housekeeping
7S of Good Housekeeping is an expanded version of 5S of Good
Housekeeping. 7S stands for sort, systematize, sweep, standardize,
safety, self-discipline and sustain.
