Domestic Housekeeping
-refers to the management of the duties and
responsibilities involved in the running of a
household. It covers the maintenance of
bedrooms, kitchen, dining, receiving area,
ground and the surrounding areas of the house.
Institutional Housekeeping
-applies to housekeeping maintenance in
commercial lodging establishments like hotels,
resorts, inns and apartelles.

➢Hotel
- typically has 50 rooms, with facilities
such as onsite lobby, restaurant and
bar. A hotel building normally features
interior hallways and guestrooms.

spa, restaurants and other
amenities that are onsite.

Inn
- an inn is a smaller hotel, normal up to about 25
rooms, with fewer amenities. Food options
maybe limited, and generally the rates are lower
than those hotels.

- as the name suggest, an apartelle combines the
services of a hotel with all its space for
apartment living. An apartelle or a serviced
apartment normally has a full kitchen within to
make the space feel like home.

Working in housekeeping for commercial
establishments is highly specialized job and is more
complex to manage compared to domestic
housekeeping. For a well-run and smooth operation
of commercial lodging establishments, housekeeping
responsibilities must be distributed to several
sections of the housekeeping department.
The efficiency and reliability of each member of the
staff contributes to the success of the establishments.
One team attends to the maintenance of guest
rooms; while another may be assigned to public
areas. Effort must be well coordinated among the
various sections to ensure efficiency housekeeping
maintenance.
