THE DESIRE TO BE FREE

The enslaved people desired to be free.


They had a natural urge to be free and
to experience a better life.

THE HARSH CONDITIONS


The conditions of slavery were cruel
and harsh. It was so bad that every 5
years the slave population was
renewed. The violence was
inhumane and dehumanized the
slave.

INSTABILITY OF

REVOLUTIONARY FRANCE

The instability of Revolutionary France


and its revolutionary ideology of Life,
Liberty, and Fraternity also helped to
trigger the revolution.

RELIGION

The African Religious belief system


united the enslaved people. The
enslaved Africans practiced Voodoo
and it helped in the revolution. It gave
them a sense of strength and
invincibility.
