NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF ONSITE ORIENTATION AND WORKSHOP

ON SIYENSIKULA VIDEO EDITING FOR SCIENCE FAIR CONTEST

An Onsite Orientation and Workshop on Siyensikula Video Editing for Science Fair
Contest was held on March 29-31, 2022 at El Nora Del Mar Traveler’s Inn, Lala-o, San Juan,
Siquijor. This was done to help the teacher participants understand the guidelines and
format in video-making contest (Siyensikula) for the National Science and Technology Fair,
as well as up-skill them on the mechanics of script/story writing and basic graphics
animation.

The participants were introduced into the world of basic video editing and animation
through the use of various video editing software like Filmora and PowerDirector. Moreover,
they were also informed about the many uses of Photoshop and the wonders of PowerPoint
transition: “Morph”.

Furthermore, the seminar became more enjoyable when the topic on script/story
writing was discussed by Mr. Arvin H. Magpiong. A two-page script was produced by each
district which showed their creativity and unique skill in crafting wonderful plots in their
story.

All in all, the Siyensikula seminar has become an avenue for our teacher participants
to become effective and efficient video directors and editors. It has offered them some
valuable video editing skills that they can use not only in directing their own Siyensikula film
but as well as in making video lessons for their classes.
