LESSON AIM: By the end of the lesson Ss will have been practiced the use of past tense
simple, regular and irregular verbs, in both written and spoken situation.

LESSON AIMS:
To identify a Past Simple form
To put verbs in their past from
To use with accuracy the forms of the irregular verbs
To build up correct questions with the given verbs
To improve listening, reading comprehension, writing and speaking skills in
connection to past simple actions
To make the difference between present simple and past simple
Materials and aids: blackboard, worksheets, audio material, cards, web camera, PPT

ACTIVITY 1 WARM –UP
AIMS: - to get the Ss involved into the topic; to check Ss’ comprehension of previous issues;
to practice reading skills.
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
Teacher checks homework and corrects any possible mistakes. T-Ss 5 min
T asks Ss to play a simple game: What did you do yesterday? Ss-Ss
T draws a Sun and writes the studentsʼ sentences on it.
ACTIVITY 2 LEAD IN
AIMS: - to revise the theoretical parts, to practice listening skills
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
SS watch a video on YouTube. There are some sentences on T-Ss 10 min
the flipchart papers and the students have to underline the
verbs.
ACTIVITY 3 FREE PRACTICE
AIMS: - to practice the grammar aspect
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
SS receive a worksheet with exercises. IW 15 min
Ss have to put the sentences into Past simple, affirmative,
interrogative and negative form. (Worksheet 1) T-Ss
ACTIVITY 4 LANGUAGE PRACTICE
AIMS: to reinforce the irregular forms of the past tense simple
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
There are some cards on the whiteboard. Teacher asks Ss T-Ss 10 min
to unscramble the words to build up sentences. IW
ACTIVITY 5 CONSOLIDATION
AIMS: to practice reading skills, to consolidate the grammar aspect;

T asks Ss to identify the present simple vs past simple in 10 min

FEEDBACK AND ASSESSMENT
Teacher assesses students’ acquisitions asking questions involving the structures practised.
Students who were very actively involved during the lesson receive a good grade.

Teacher asks students to write a composition about: What did you do last Monday?
