Death penalty: should it be implemented or not?

Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a state-sanctioned practice of

killing a person as a punishment for a crime, the first established death penalty laws date as
far back as the Eighteenth Century B.C. in the Philippines death penalty was re-imposed
during the administration of President Fidel Ramos to address the rising crime rate in 1993,
only to be abolished again in 2006

The justice system in the Philippines is poor and biased toward the rich, that’s why the
death penalty should not be implemented anyhow. Our justice system is slow and
incompetent; it takes so long to process their case, and they end up being killed without
proper hearing, evidence, etc. My point is the death penalty in the Philippines doesn’t make
sense if our justice system is this poor and biased, death penalty allows the death of many
innocent people this incompetent justice system of ours may waste many lives. And it
doesn’t even matter if you presented strong evidence the law should always take sides with
the rich and powerful.

The poor are at a disadvantage with the death penalty, almost 88.1% of prisoners on
death row are usually poor, that’s why the death penalty should not be implemented
because the justice system is rigged by rich families and politicians. Just like the case of
Walter "Johnny D." McMillian was a pulpwood worker from Monroeville, Alabama, who was
wrongfully convicted of murder by a white police cop while going home saying he was a
suspect because he looked like it and without concrete evidence, he was sentenced to
death. But plead not guilty to the court, which proves that underprivileged people are the
target of wrongful accusations.

The Catholic Church are also against the death penalty, since the catholic church agree
that taking away someone's life is a sin and should not happen at all cause, catholic church
are agree that people should die in God’s hand. Life imprisonment are rather effective than
capital punishment the catholic also agree, the philippines are a catholic nation we believe
on so many things and as a pro life be believe that capital punishment are not necessary
althought it might help taking away someone's life is a sin.

Life imprisonment are far better option than taking away a life, Philippines justice system
is incompetent and ruled by the rich people, many innocent life are wasted because of
wrongful accusations
As a catholic, taking away someone’s life is a sin only God can decide our fate, let’s fix our
justice system first before we decide if death penalty should be implemented or not.
