The effects of globalization
on governments
The term "globalization" refers to the increasing
interdependence of the economies, cultures, and
populations throughout the world as a result of
technology, cross-border trade in goods and services,
and flows of capital, labor, and information. Over
many years, nations have developed economic alliances
to support these movements. However, the phrase
became well-known in the early 1990s following the
end of the Cold War as these cooperative agreements
helped to build contemporary society.

Globalization and Political Sovereignty
As a result of globalization, national governments' ability to define
their political structures, as well as to control and influence their
economies (particularly with reference to macroeconomic
management). There is a clear evidence that the level to which
politics are now primarily market-driven globally is where the
impact of globalization is most felt. Governments are no longer
unable to govern their countries, but in order to remain in power,
they increasingly need to "manage" national politics in order to
conform them to the demands of global market forces.

Globalization and Cultural Sovereignty
Culture, in our view, refers to the patterns of behavior and thought
that social groups foster learning, innovation, and sharing. One
human group is distinguished from another by its culture. A
people's culture encompasses its political and economic institutions,
as well as their beliefs, codes of conduct, language, customs, and
artistic and technological expressions.
