1.1 Abstract
Kumari Kandam is a mythical continent, believed to be lost with an ancient Tamil civilization.
However, there is always a discussion as to whether a myth is actually factual or whether it will stay a
myth until its supporting evidence is made clear. In order to generate that proof, our design aims to
build a research center with structural facilities for marine trenches and for other research
operations. (the other research operation might include – flood prevention research operation and other
disaster prevention act)

Topic – kumari kandam (A mission of redefining our mystery to history)

Sub topic – Research center + marine archeology School + Inputs based upon upcoming
requirements…

1.2 Need of the Study

• Nellai Manoram Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli has already considered and carried out an
excavation proposal, but the High Court has ordered the university to respond to the extent that
there are structural facilities for the sea trenching the Kumari continent

• And there are a lot of Tamil revivalists who are eager to work, but they lack a suitable research
facility.

• Young generations with inspiring ideas and with an enthusiastic work spirit will get an
opportunity to work along with the research and with other government projects.

1.3 Aim of The Study

The project aims to design a research center with structural facilities for marine trenches. And a
marine archeology Learning School.
1.4 Objective of study
1. Exploring the future and reviving the past.

2. Promotion of better architecture and built environment.

3. Jobs for youngsters.

4. To prove the antiquity of the Tamil language and culture

5. If this research work is completed successfully, it will be a Global advertisement to our Indian
nation.

1.5 Scope
The Main Scope Of Our Design Is To Provide The Required Amount Of Research Facilities For Marine
Archeology Excavation And Learning.

1.6 limitations
Users: Public are allowed to access only at a certain point, Not beyond the research boundary. The
research center at kumari kandam is only accessible by researchers, students and other authorized
people.

1.7 Site
Location _ The site is located on Coromandel Coast, Coastal Rd near Vellar River It is
located at a distance of  8 km from CAS in Marine Biology Annamalai University, 50 Km from
PONDICHERRI.
Approach _The site can be approached through East Coast Nagar
Site Area _ Approximately 14.3 Acres.

Site Justification _ 

1. Marine archeology involves equipment and research vessels, which means the site has to be on
shore or in the ocean.. .
2. Other surrounded context are either mangroved or as a wildlife santurary.
