 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

1. To get aware about the museums such as Archaeological, Forest and

Fisheries museums in Port Blair Island & its importance in tourism field
in Andaman.

2. To throw light on the profound and informative portrait of island's local

community of tribes and highlights of primordial eras of Jarawas, the
Onges, the Sentinelese, the Shompens and the Nicobarese,

3. To know about forest museum that include the artefacts that are made
from Timber, Gurjan, Oak, Satin Wood and Paduak reflecting the rich and
dense flora found in the islands.

4. To get an insight into the fisheries museum which includes a small

aquarium that houses various collections of fishes and corals and shells.
Which exhibits species of marine life prevalent to the islands

5. To understand how Museums, play a crucial role in the success of

Andaman tourism by attracting millions of international and
domestic visitors.

6. To learn how museums, showcase the best of the nation's history

and culture to the widest possible audiences with objects that tell
the stories of the nation and offer a sense of place.

7. To understand how museums through the money these museum

visitors deliver economic benefits to local economy.

8. To know how the artefacts are maintained, cared for and further
developed so that they continue to offer the visitor value for money
and a quality experience.

9. To understand the impact of tourism on environment of A&N Islands

Andaman Islands.
RATIONAL/HYPOTHESIS ON THE NEED FOR THIS PROJECT REPORT

The Andaman Nicobar government has felt the need to promote tourism in
Port Blair Island by taking key initiatives. An effort has been made to present a
critical study on these policies and their effect on tourism.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The information for this project was gathered primarily using Wikipedia and
personal visit to the Island. In addition to the reference, information was also
gathered by some books/magazines and tourism promotional sites.

CHAPTERIZATION OF THIS PROJECT:

The Andaman Nicobar Government has taken various tourism promotional

activities in Port Blair Islands to harness its tourism potential. The government
highlighted the potential of cultural tourism and been considered as a
successful destination for tourism. A large no. of visitors is visiting these
islands round the year and the no. of visitors is increasing day to day for
experiencing cultural environments, including landscapes, the visual and
performing arts, and special (local) lifestyles, values, traditions, events as well
as other ways of creative and inter-cultural exchange processes.
SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
To develop and promote museums in Andaman Islands is a great initiate to
develop the islands for providing information experiencing cultural
environments, including landscapes, the visual and performing arts, and special
(local) lifestyles, values, traditions, events as well as other ways of creative and
inter-cultural exchange processes. The destination has now become an integral
part of tourism with the positive feedback studies in the forecasting to tourism
in Andaman Islands. More development will attract more visitors in the
coming years. These pristine islands have great potential of becoming the best
tourists’ spot in the world.
