Question 1: Write down the differences between vacuum tube & transistor. Write some

examples of semiconductor materials.

Differences:

Transistors are solid state and conducts a variable amount of electricity through it. However,

vacuum tubes are not solid state. It has almost no gas in it for electrons to move around.

Compared to the vacuum tube, transistors were much smaller, faster and cheaper to

manufacture. They were also far more reliable and used much less power.

examples of semiconductor materials:

Common semiconductor materials include silicon, germanium, and selenium. The most

commonly used semiconductor is silicon.

Question 2: What are the different types of memory devices? Write the differences between

RAM & ROM.

Like these:

MOS, PMOS, NMOS, CMOS, Flip-flop, Register, SRAM, DRAM, ROM, EEPROM, CAM,

Cache and Ferroelectric

the differences between RAM & ROM

RAM is a volatile memory whose data is erased when it is powered down.

ROM is non-volatile memory. Its data is kept forever and can't be erased when the power

goes down.

Ram is the memory available for the operating system programs and process to use when the

computer is running.

Rom is the memory that comes with your computer that is pre-written to hold the instructions

for booting up the computer

Question 3: Write down the full form: CAD, EDA, VHDL, PLA, FPGA, MIPS, ALU
CAD: Computer Aided Design

EDA: Electronic Design Automation

VHDL: Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language

PLA: Programmable Logic Array

FPGA: Field Programmable Gate Array

MIPS: Million Instructions Per Second

ALU: Arithmetic Logical Unit

Question 4: Explain PLA structure with block diagram.
